Let Us Go To GOD in Prayer
And so it is GOD to WHOM we turn at the end of a Day or a Trial or a Lifetime; simply to Discover the Meaning of our lives.
In that moment when humans approach the HOLY ALTAR;
Some of us are hesitant and unsure.
Many are grateful and relieved.
Others are numb with regret or disappointment.
NEVERTHELESS, let us go to GOD in PRAYER.
LORD JESUS CHRIST.
We come seeking your permission to ride the train of Calvary into the PRESENCE of GOD.
We need to scatter before the THRONE:
Our struggling Halleluias.
Our anemic vows.
Our maps without legend.
Our sicknesses and diseases.
Please HAVE MERCY UPON us.
In this unpredictable chapter of being mortal;
we vacillate between feeling humdrum, wretched and zealous.
We too often find ourselves the polar opposite of popular Christianity.
Where they see "icons" of the Faith, we see wounded sparrows.
And too often our own pain rips through any expectation of JOY.
LORD PLEASE HAVE MERCY UPON US.
WE PRAY for The CHURCH,
RELEASE her from bondage.
WASH the scales from her eyes.
UNstop her ears.
STRENGTHEN her feeble knees.
Lift up her bowed down head.
UNFURL her wings; that she may FLY.
THIS we ask in JESUS' NAME.
AMEN.
